About The Buffett Road Hounds

The Buffett Road Hounds are a group of fun, mature adults growing older — but not up. Each year brings familiar faces, new friends, and the occasional “interesting” character along for the ride.

The Trip

Every year, we travel by motorcoach charter bus to Wisconsin for the legendary Jimmy Buffett concert weekend. Our base has always been Janesville, WI, where we stay Friday and Saturday nights — most recently at the Holiday Inn Express.

They keep the pool open late for us and serve up a great breakfast to get us going again.

On Saturday, we load up the bus around 11:00 AM and head out for a full day of fun, usually stopping off at the Best Western to catch our favourite Hawaiian — The Whaleshark — performing his signature Buffett-style party music.

The Experience

From there, it’s on to Alpine Valley Music Center, arriving around 2:00 PM. The afternoon is packed with games, socialising, temporary tattoos, and exploring the massive venue filled with parrotheads.

The tailgate alone is worth the trip — the concert just tops it off.

We usually head into the venue around 7:00 PM for general admission lawn seating, strategically placed for easy access to refreshments.

The Concert & Aftermath

The show kicks off around 8:00 PM and delivers everything you’d expect — music, atmosphere, and unforgettable moments.

Afterward, we regroup at the bus and make our way back to the hotel… usually ready to collapse after a full day.

Sunday morning is a little quieter as we pack up and head home — tired, but already looking forward to next year.
